Description

Hello again everyone! Part three of seven sketch commissions is done. :iconglacieraura: commissioned me to make her a digitally colored sketch of her MLP-based character. I actually streamed this one, and it's approximate start to its completion is available for viewing in its entirety here. --->[link]
This was my first stream, and I just want to thank my watchers that came and talked with me for watching almost all of my tediously long video, even with the audio issues.

I'd love to see even more of you when I post another streaming announcement in my journal in soon.

Including the bit of the making of this picture that I did not film, the whole thing took about 2hrs and 10 minutes to complete on GIMP 2.8 (which is miles better than GIMP 2.6, I might add).

This character (Glacier Aura) belongs to :iconglacieraura:.

OH my goddd this is just so beautiful. Shes got a kick ass facial horn <3

Okay, but seriously, this really is a wonderful piece. I really love how you did the tail, and the face, and the jaw, and the ASDFJS everything! The anatomy is terrific, i really love how you added that little "tummy fat" there, it really makes a big difference. The hind legs look really really nice, loving the pose, and you pulled it off excellently. The tail blade also looks really neat. And sharp. It has an almost translucent property, making it seem like ice, which I'm certain that was what you were going for. The hair looks gorgeous, it looks like it was made out of ice itself, and I'm loving that snow around the horn.

I had to stare at this picture for a while to really find anything that needs improvement. The only things I've taken notice to are, one, the back feet. As much as i love the position, they seem... inconsistent? The foot that's reaching towards us has solid lines of where the color splits, and there appears to be a frill, but on the other foot, that is not the case. Of course, this could also just be how the character is designed, but i wanted to point it out just to be sure. Also, the claws on the foot reaching towards us look a little... like they're glued onto the foot, rather than being actual paws. The skin should separate into "fingers" before opening into the claw. Also, claws have a sort of "flat" side on the bottom, usually. But, as with the frill thing, this could just be how the dragon is designed.

I'd like to bring some attention to those front paws as well. Don't get me wrong, they really do look fantastic, its just the one on the ground appears rather large. Though, i do understand if this is just a style issue. The one that's in the air, however, is also missing those "fingers." The paw on the ground has evidence of carved out fingers, but the on in the air looks like the fingers got melted together <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="19" height="19" alt="^^;" title="Sweating a little..."/> .

I noticed that you put eyelashes, further emphasizing this dragon's femininity, however I only see three eyelashes. I'm sure you know there are several eyelashes along our eyelids, on the top and bottom. Adding more enhances the beauty of female dragons like this c:

I think I forgot to mention the colors. Oh my god, those colors. They are marvelous on their own, but applied to this piece just makes the dragon look so majestic. And the choice of background really shows off just how blue this dragon is. The ears, did I mention the ears yet? No? Okay. The EARS. They looks so magnificent. So detailed. You can tell how much effort you put into drawing them, especially at that angle. The little ridges at the bottom there really make them stand out.

I don't think there's much else to say. Excellent picture, solid anatomy, and with a few tweaks here and there it could truly be perfect. Never stop doing what you do, you're absolutely wonderful at it <3
